Yesterday was such a special day, I spent time venue touring two of Macon’s most beautiful parks, Tattnall Square Park and Amerson River Park. As a newly local family photographer, I’m always looking for breathtaking spots that make families feel comfortable and inspired during their sessions. Both of these parks completely stole my heart.
✨ Tattnall Square Park – With its wide open lawns, historic trees, and welcoming atmosphere, this park is perfect for family photography in Macon. I could easily imagine milestone sessions where children twirl in the grass, couples hold hands under shady oaks, or families laugh together during golden hour. The fountain centered in the middle of the park was truly the cherry on top!
🌿 Amerson River Park – For families who love a more natural and adventurous setting, this is one of the best photo locations in Macon. The sweeping views of the Ocmulgee River, open trails, and natural textures create a backdrop that feels timeless, serene, and full of life. Visiting the overlook felt like a movie moment. There were so many ideas flowing in of the sets and sessions that could be captured in such a beautiful space.
What stood out to me most about both spaces was how spacious and accommodating they are, not just for one style of shoot, but for many. From cake smashes and big kid milestones to seasonal minis and signature family sessions, these parks offer versatility and charm that bring every story to life.
As a photographer, I don’t just see a location, I see a stage for memories, a canvas for joy, and a place where families can relax while I capture the beauty of their connection. Touring these parks reminded me why I love children and family photography because every stage and milestone deserves to be captured for later.
I can’t wait to bring families here, to let kids run free, parents sink into the moment, and memories unfold naturally against Macon’s breathtaking scenery.
Stay tuned because the magic of Macon family photography at these parks will surely become part of many Shoots With Mya stories to come.
